Vision

To create a more transparent, digitally-empowered, and teacher-first union culture that uplifts every educator’s dignity, welfare, and career trajectory.

Vision

TEACHER CENTERED MANIFESTO

My manifesto is anchored on Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely (S.M.A.R.T) commitments that center on teacher welfare, transparency, digital transformation, and service-oriented unionism.

Manifesto
Digital

1. Digital Transformation & Modern Communication

Build a secure members’ database for direct SMS/email communication. Promote e-registration, e-voting, and digital grievance systems. Use mobile apps and bulk SMS for opinion polling and union decision-making. Ensure online participation for AGMs via Zoom/Google Meet.

Financial

2. Financial Transparency, Efficiency & Member Welfare

Introduce real-time MPESA allowance payments linked to automated attendance. Advocate for timely, improved KNEC allowances (invigilation, marking, supervision). Push for transparent budgeting and responsible financial leadership. Establish policies ensuring honest, selfless, corruption-free union operations.

Legal

3. Legal Protection, Policy Reform & Teacher Rights

Create a legal defense fund for members facing unfair deductions or interdictions. Advocate national legal reforms (e.g., research-driven review of age-of-consent laws). Ensure teachers receive fair hearings in disciplinary or misconduct-related cases. Strengthen union-led legal guidance during disputes with TSC/MoE.

Professional

4. Professional Growth, Meritocracy & Fair Labour Practice

Fight for transparent, merit-based TSC promotions and employment. End exploitation through unfair workloads (e.g., enforced teaching beyond 9 lessons). Push for fast confirmation, medical cover, and hardship allowances for JSS interns. Support independent JSS leadership to curb corruption and mismanagement.

Health

5. Health, Well-being & Social Support

Advocate for improved medical cover and reform of ineffective Minet/SHA contracts. Organize wellness events—team building, tournaments, social gatherings. Promote mental health support systems for teachers. Ensure teachers in co-curricular/sports receive transport, meals, and proper facilitation.

Empowerment

6. Empowering Teachers in Governance & Constitutional Matters

Enable teachers to give input on union constitutional changes through digital surveys. Support democratic processes with tech-enabled voting systems. Maintain respectful, inclusive leadership that places welfare above politics. Strengthen dignity and integrity in union campaigns—no bribery, no tokenism.

Support

7. Teacher Support in National Functions & Election Participation

Provide transport support for teachers during elections to curb bribery and increase turnout. Demand dignified working conditions for KNEC-contracted teachers. Ensure teacher-friendly scheduling in national activities. Promote equitable access to national opportunities such as affordable housing slots.

Autonomy

8. JSS Autonomy, Sports Development & Student Protection

Advocate independent management of JSS institutions and sports programs. Promote separate sporting calendars, venues, and budgets for JSS. Hold awareness and prevention forums on misconduct allegations—protecting both teachers and learners. Develop clear policies for safe, ethical teacher-student interaction.
